Okay, what can we realistically expect from a Trump presidency?

Which doesn't mean he wouldn't try, but it seems more probable to me that his first focus will be on avenging various petty grudges.
i could see that going down well with a lot of people. plus a generally more restrictive approach to immigration is what his base wants."The Christian way has not been tried and found wanting, it has been found to be hard and left untried" - GK Chesterton.

It won't be popular when the economy crashes due to losing ten million plus workers doing jobs no one else wants to do, checkpoints requiring papers, agents going door to door searching houses for illegals, and the court system being backed up for a decade with deportation cases.
Because that's what deporting all the illegals requires.

as for the economy, the impact is certainly open to question, and there is certain no shortage of arguments that can be made in support of such policies."The Christian way has not been tried and found wanting, it has been found to be hard and left untried" - GK Chesterton.

That's nice. Except it doesn't stand a chance in hell with such a divided Congress. Depending on what happens in Louisiana, it could be 51-49 Congress. I am sure some Republicans won't even pass such harsh measures on immigrants.
Anything like that would have to be part of the budget and good luck!
Oh and undocumented immigrants contribute far more and deporting all of them would cause an economic crash. For there is [another] kind of violence, slower but just as deadly, destructive as the shot or the bomb in the night. just to be clear, i'm an anarchist who supports the removal of borders, but i am simply saying how these things could be politically possible, and the way they could be framed. this is especially true if combined with reforms to the legal immigration system: 'we're helping those who play by the rules and cracking down on those who break them, etc.'"The Christian way has not been tried and found wanting, it has been found to be hard and left untried" - GK Chesterton.

Originally posted by C0ckney View Posti'm not sure that it does. if i had to design such a policy, i would probably start by cracking down on businesses known to employ illegal immigrants, i.e. random checks on businesses in sectors where illegal employment is rife, with harsh penalties for those caught....
You mean businesses like the construction business (illegal contruction workers) or real estate (I guess housekeeping services like those employed by real estate companies which own skyscrapers often employ illegal immigrants).
I am sure this will have an interesting effect on Trumps Megacorporation (which seems to do a lot in those 2 fields of business)Tamsin (Lost Girl): "I am the Harbinger of Death. I arrive on winds of blessed air. Air that you no longer deserve."
