  • Casual Sex

Have you had it? Do you recommend it? Is it unsafe? Immoral? Better or worse than in-relationship sex? Does the very thought of touching a person you're not emotionally intimate with cause you to shudder? Does the memory of a past dalliance fill you with revulsion and shame? Has a previous liaison ever ended so catastrophically that further interaction with the person induced panic attacks?

    That's up to you...

    Immoral?
That's why God gave us confession.

    Depends on the woman

When you get older, they are some of the better memories

I recommend searching through the archives for Ted Striker threads.

Just know your partner(s) and play it safe.

Yes, I can give advice. I personally haven't done casual sex because I prefer being in a relationship and knowing the guy on a deep level, but whatever floats your boat. Who am I to judge?

As far as immoral, well some seem to think me having a boyfriend is immoral but I really don't give a **** lol.
For there is [another] kind of violence, slower but just as deadly, destructive as the shot or the bomb in the night. This is the violence of institutions -- indifference, inaction, and decay. This is the violence that afflicts the poor, that poisons relations between men because their skin has different colors. - Bobby Kennedy (Mindless Menance of Violence)

This. Although since I got married the thought hasn't really passed through my mind.

This all happened 4-ish months ago. But with school back in session, it will be difficult not to run into the person again.

I somewhat regret my few casual encounters. They were fun at the time, but tended to lead to awkward moments later. As a memory they don't hold a candle to the more emotionally involved ones, and I prefer not to remember them as there's much better things to think about.

I should say that my answer to the first question is NO, even when I regularly imbibed ridiculous amounts of alcohol.

And the reason why my answer to the first question is NO is because even when I questioned my views (on 4) and regularly imbibed way too much alcohol (generally the same period of my life), I still didn't get through 6.

6 has always been a major hurdle for me. I deliberately attempted to work past that phobia and it blew up in my face almost precisely because of the reasons I say I have that fear, so I suspect 6 will remain a stumbling block for the foreseeable future.

defo recommended. Just be safe. People tend to lie about their STDs. So be safe. PEople might also lie about being single, so keep that in mind.

Other than that? As long as you both know it's nothing else, go for it, it's supposed to be fun.

This is the only one I could find, and it does not inspire confidence.

It is human nature to remember/obsess over painful memories than remember/glory in good memories. When we were hunter gatherers on the savannah, it was good for our survival. Now, not so much.

True, which is why you should never recommend that Lori go searching through the archives. He might get lost...
