Oh, please enlighten me, what was the point you were making?

    • Gee... it seems to me you are both saying the same thing with one exception...

Bespin - Facts and evidence as seen from your personal perspective
      Gian - Facts and evidence

And since one's opinion/knowledge base is rooted in the individual, I think Bespin's is more accurate.

        Perhaps...

But opinions are like... Well you know.

My world view is based by evidence. BKs is based on fantasy. That is what my original post was about. BK doesn't even bother looking at science. That is the point Bespin missed.
For there is [another] kind of violence, slower but just as deadly, destructive as the shot or the bomb in the night. This is the violence of institutions -- indifference, inaction, and decay. This is the violence that afflicts the poor, that poisons relations between men because their skin has different colors. - Bobby Kennedy (Mindless Menance of Violence)

        • @Ming; Yes, that's a good summary of the point I am trying to get across.

The way we interpret data, and even conduct research, is based on our own world view. Therefore, any emperical evidence has the ability to be seen differently by different people. That's why researchers usually disclose their ontological and epistemological stance in their papers.

          Edit*
@Giancarlo; As you claim that you're world view is based on science, you must know this, right?

You are aware that science makes no such claims as to whether God does or does not exist?

You are aware I never said anything about science discussing whether god exists. Keep it up, Benny boy. Keep it up.

I just said you are clueless about science.

And I don't need science to come to the determination that religion and the belief in some invisible man in the sky is a bunch of bullcrap.

              • He wants the church to become the new state. Everything would be directed by religious edict from the Church.
Seems everyone gets it wrong. I believe that state is state and church is church. Both exist, both should not be the other, and both have their legitimate spheres. I have no issue with private schools, but I don't believe that the state should run public education. I believe that the state should confine itself to it's constitutional limits.

                • Why does the state pay for education? The state has an interest in children and in regularizing marriage. From these presuppositions, the conclusion can be drawn that the state has an interest in recognizing marriage between one man and one woman."
Indeed it does, and Yes, I believe that the state has a role in regularizing marriage. If you had it your way, there would be zero marriage licenses issued. I disagree with that.

Obviously not true given I just address the perspective of science.

You want religious edicts like in Uganda. you hate the constitution. You want everyone to be forced into chrisitianity. So quit your lying!

By the way, the state has more of a right in teaching education than the ****ing church.

You cannot address science. Your mind is clouded by religious fundamentalism.

                        Lying liar is lying again!

Right. Which does nothing to address my point that science says nothing about God.

You don't **** about the constitution. Stop trying to discuss something you are perpetually clueless in.
