On the contrary. Your shortsightedness for pursuing solutions to the root problems is overwhelmed by your desire to treat the symptom...not the problem. That is understandable. One CAN do both. (Once again I am not advocating for or against gun control here!). However, recognition of the problem and beginning to address it root causes (like income disparity, equal opportunity, civic education, etc...) in meaningful ways will treat the disease and hopefully eliminate the symptom.

I'm guessing it's a generational thing. The younger generation never actually heard a cash register being rung up. Us older folks associate it with money.
