For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio
Yes. Some Israeli politician's wife made a racist tweet about Obama coffee being black and weak.
"Black" is used as a descriptor, but the usage fundamentally attacks Obama's race
You think? In that particular context I'd have just thought it was a crap joke and an ill-advised thing for a politicians wife to come out with. I might just be missing something, but I don't see racism there.
The n word is used to disparage all blacks where as white trash is you used to describe trashy people who happen to be white. It is more used to describe social class than race.
also, it seems to me that for a term to be considered derogatory to a race, it needs to actually... you know, be insulting... on it's own... or targeting the person's race in some way
Terms like "white trash" don't attack anyone's whiteness. It is to specific between white people who are trash and those who are not. Otherwise, the "white" wouldn't be necessary.
I've attacked conservatives for being conservative. Gun owners for owning guns. Trash for being trash.
I mean, Aeson, you are the boss and I'd respect your rules.
But don't give in to the "WAHHH REVERSE RACISM" whiner bull****
Aeson is just gun shy because all of the islanders keep calling him whitey.

yes, but perhaps an attack on his blackness in the weakest possible way
I can't speak to that lady or her motives. She could be unfunny. She could be racist and unfunny. That's not for me to say

My question is this, what would your response be to someone who used the term "black trash"?
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.â€
- John 13:34-35 (NRSV)
My question is this, what would your response be to someone who used the term "black trash"?
My reply would be "Why are you making up terms that nobody uses?"
Making up a term like that serves no other purpose than to illustrate race. That's why it would be racist (more racist on a spectrum than "white trash", since I don't like absolutes).

So what is the difference between "conservatism" and "white, conservatism"?
And BK was using "black" as a specifying term. When describing "the problem", adding in a racial descriptor just isn't going to fly.
I'm certainly willing to follow whatever inane language rules you want to come up with.
BK was attacking their blackness.
I was not attacking whiteness.
If you cannot see a distinction. Perma ban me right now. Delete my account.
I don't want to be part of a site run by a ****ing moron. Not saying you are, but this is a clear choice where you can choose between being one and not.
When applied to something like "the problem is" ... just leave race (and sexuality/gender) out. Especially in threads where someone was just banned for including race as a descriptor of what the problem is.
