The US War on Blacks!

Spoken like someone who doesn't know **** about NASCAR. The reason there aren't many people in NASCAR is because black drivers were basically excluded from the sport for huge parts of its history. If you're actually interested rather than just trolling, go read about the actual numbers of drivers and their stories.

You can start with Wendell Scott. Well you have to basically, as he was the only black driver in the sport until he retired in 73. He actually won a Sprint Cup race back in 63, and is still the only black driver to do so. There were then no black drivers until 86. Darrell Wallace, Jr won a truck race in 2013 and was the first black driver since Wendell Scott to win a race in any of the three top series.

Like I said, NASCAR are making genuine efforts to try and correct the problem these days through their Drive for Diversity program, but the history of the sport is not a pretty picture.

One of the two of us actually worked with NASCAR in the past. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that person isn't you.Originally posted by Hauldren Collider View PostJesus christ. I'm sure the fact that both sports are quite expensive to participate in has nothing to do with it.Originally posted by Hauldren Collider View PostNah, dude, the reason there aren't many black people in nascar is the same reason there aren't many black people in hockey. They just generally don't like it as much. Is that so strange? Cultural differences. I think it's a little ridiculous to go around saying we need the fans and participants of every particular leisure activity to be a perfect sample of the population writ large.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

As far as I know, basically no one plays polo here. How many black people live in britain? (Do people who aren't royal family members actually still play it in britain?)Originally posted by Dauphin View PostDamn, I was going to ask why black people don't play polo to make the same point.
Let me put it this way, I live in one of the most affluent areas in the United States and I literally know and know of no one who plays polo. Not a single person. I do know people who own horses. None of them play polo.If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?

No, things like black drivers getting told they weren't allowed to race, having promoters refusing to pay them, getting smashed around on track far more than white drivers, and having the crowds screaming racial insults at them. That's racism.Originally posted by Hauldren Collider View PostGood point. But that's still not racism.

Do I expect you to know facts about polo? No. But why make your assertion base on your circle of friends?Originally posted by Hauldren Collider View PostAs far as I know, basically no one plays polo here.
