And Jehovah God saith, `Lo, the man was as one of Us, as to the knowledge of good and evil; and now, lest he send forth his hand, and have taken also of the tree of life, and eaten, and lived to the age,' --

see "also"? God didn't want mankind to have both knowledge and long lives

He told the 6th Day people to fill the Earth, he did not tell Adam and Eve to fill his Garden. Eve was not made on the 6th Day, and if Adam was, he sure wasn't filling the Earth.

        • They weren't immortal, they came from dust and returned to it
Then why does God deny them access to the tree of Life?

The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.”
          Genesis 3:22

Adam and Ever were immortal in the Garden.

God didn't want mankind to have both knowledge and long lives
NIV has immortal. What translation are you using, Berz?

Ecce Adam quasi unus ex nobis factus est, sciens bonum et malum: nunc ergo ne forte mittat manum suam, et sumat etiam de ligno vitæ, et comedat, et vivat in aeternum.
Eternal life, Berz. Vulgate has "vivat in aeternum."

"εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα " in the Greek is life forever.

and of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, thou dost not eat of it, for in the day of thine eating of it -- dying thou dost die.'
Does that say that the tree will kill them? No.

He told the 6th Day people to fill the Earth, he did not tell Adam and Eve
Scripture doesn't refer to the "6th day people", anywhere. It does, however, refer to Adam and Eve.

Also, if God is against procreation, why would he command people to fill the earth and subdue it?

Let us block their way to the tree of life. God says absolutely nothing about Adam and Eve dying from the tree, no physical or spiritual death... just the acquisition of knowledge, probably dealing in part with procreation given the sexual symbolism in the story.

How can Jesus compete with 72 virgins?
Yes he did die. So he's not like God. You can be like God and different from God. He's different because he was a sinner, suffered and died.

I'm a sinner. Christians can and do sin and must repent. Believing that Christians are somehow immune from sin is bad theology.

No. You are commanded to repent (turn away from sin). You said you do that, but you sin. That is double-minded. I'm not even talking about theology here.

You are born a sinner. When you repent you turn away from sin.

It's very much a theological point, We have a disagreement as to how the sin nature operates.

You are born a sinner. When you repent you turn away from sin.
Yes, but you continue to sin even after you repent. That's the point I'm driving home. Repentence is not a one time thing.

                        • You're saying it's God's plan to talk about repenting and not actually repent. This is what you tell converts, to repent and keep sinning. It's ridiculous. Do you have any idea how foolish you look?

Then they didn't repent. They need to repent if they sin.

This is the difference, Kentonio. You have a completely different understanding of the process of sanctification and of repentence.

Repentence is not a one time thing. Every time we commit sins, we must repent. Regardless as to whether we did or did not repent earlier.

Two, repentence *is* sincere, regardless as to whether or not we sin later on. That's how the sin nature works - we work on becoming better people that sin less. But that doesn't mean that we will ever be free of sin - not on this earth.

This is what you tell converts, to repent and keep sinning. It's ridiculous. Do you have any idea how foolish you look?
That's how the sacrament of confession works, and why it works. Believing that someone was never a Christian if they ever sin is bad theology. David sinned. That didn't mean he was no longer a follower of God, but that meant that he had to repent of the sins that he committed in order to be received into proper fellowship with God. Sin damages our relationship with God, it does not destroy it.
