  • A waiter isn't your friend just because you tipped him. Especially if he thinks you're an ass and is spitting in your food.
So it's a tip now? I thought you said it was a bribe.

I didn't give it to you because you expected it but because I wanted to thank you for all the crap and bull**** you had to put up with. That was all that was intended. I was very sad that you've responded this way. I'm not sure what more I can say other than oh well. It's your loss, rah.

Yes, kind of cheating by posting it here, but if it keeps me from posting in his threads, it's the lesser of two evils.

Ben can't even pay people to be his friend.

      • Yeah. a tip is a payment for service rendered or for the expectation of a service to be rendered in the future.
The same could be said for a bribe. There is little difference except people might say that a bribe is for a service that might be shady or distasteful.
Being a friend of Ben probably qualifies, so bribe may actually be more accurate. The fact that he keeps bringing it up in public certainly shows that he had some type of expectation of some type of return.
It's like he thinks I owe something to him because of it. That's certainly not the definition of a gift. Friends don't keep throwing a "GIFT" in a person's face.

Obviously Ben knows as little about friendship as he does everything else.

He even claims it was for putting up with all the crap and bull****. A considerable amount of it was from him. I am not like the Catholic church where you can buy Indulgence.

There is no possible gift that could make me like him.

There is still room if you guys want to try getting back on the wagon again.

            • Yeah, maybe it's time to get back on the wagon.
If ben feels the need to spew hate to get some obviously sorely needed attention, I probably shouldn't encourage him.
His defense that he's not like this IRL shows just how desperate he is for attention. He must live a sad little life.
He is dishonest in discussions. He makes up stuff and just changes the argument when called out.
He's the reason why the Pope had to say what he did. The Pope is worried about peoples opinion of the church. HE should be.
I will not waste my time trying to discuss anything with him. But I will probably continue to insult him because that's what douches like him deserves.

He's such an attention whore who always has to have the last word, no matter how banal it is.

                  • His hatred towards gay couples shows how much of an inadequate person he is. He is so sad and pathetic. He seems so preoccupied with what I do in my life.

If he's doing all this simply for attention it makes it even more pathetic.

                    • If he is doing it for attention, the best response is not to engage him. It is difficult for me not to since it's easy to fall into the trap that you feel if you do nothing, that evil wins but if attention is his goal, we win by depriving him of it.

It's tough though, and why I started this thread. Shunning is an appropriate response. Shaming hasn't been effective since he thrives on it.

Your second paragraph explains one of my biggest weaknesses. I feel the need to speak up about bigotry, but sometimes that is giving the bigot what it wants. Attention.

I was a bigot before in the past and I can personally attest to this fact. I will never live like that ever again. This is also why I am very vocal against bigotry. It also has to do with righting past wrongs.

Thanks Giancarlo.....bigotry is is rampant across civilization.....as Rah stated and you confirmed, one foot moving forward tells you to speak out against it....while the other foot follows and then this engaging the bigot gives them a platform....perhaps the foot one take forward oft is better used to slide sideways and go on past....hard as it is....many cannot see the ugliness of bigotry..labels condemn some to pre judge....many people have no idea of the man in the mirror...looking at his own two edge sword....inner beauty but sometimes a deceitful darkness abodes within the heart..less we all forget no one is perfect we are all a work in progress!

This is what people are finally doing with Trump. Standing up against him more forcefully. He truly is a national scale bigot. When the bigot already has a platform and the potential to do serious harm, the people must unite and stand against that threat to equality.

Sometimes we must speak out against it. Sometimes we must convince more people to stand with us for equality, while dismissing bigotry. We must not completely ignore it because it could spread like a cancer. Its best to mitigate it the best we can. At the same time, we need to avoid making the bigot look like a martyr and giving them a platform.
