So...I'm Thinking About Next U.S. Presidential Election
Socialists are unelectable because Americans don't like socialism. In fact, a majority of Americans don't have the first ****ing clue what socialism actually is. They heavily support socialist policies however, as long as no-one calls them socialist
Yeah, that's been a REPUB strat for years. IF any idea is even slightly left of center scream socialism to scare people off and if it's more left of center, scream communism.
It shouldn't be as effective as it's been. It does demonstrate the fear those words invoke.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

If a presidential candidate self-identifies as a "socialist"...?
Then it seems like a really good opportunity for people to ask 'ok, what do you believe then? What is socialism in America today?'. Then when they actually hear the answers, they might be surprised by how much of it they actually agree with. It just seems like for the last decade or so, there haven't really been many people asking questions about what the other 'side' actually believe or want, its mostly been everyone assuming they already know and feeling they have to fight tooth and nail against it no matter what. That's true of both sides.
I'm just confused how someone who would be willing to vote for the Republican ticket so long as Scott Walker isn't at the top of it (but it's okay if he's at the bottom of it!) is also willing to vote for Bernie Sanders.
1) It demonstrates the depths to which I hate Scott Walker. I want him out of my state so badly that I'd be willing to vote for a republican ticket that carries him as VP.
2) I only support Sanders in the hopes that it pulls Hillary further to the left. Sanders in the primary and Clinton in the general with the possible exception of Walker as a useless VP.

He wants him at the bottom of it because VP is a nothing job with only a handful of counterexamples, so Walker would be out of Wisconsin and have no real power. Did you really fail to grasp that obvious sarcasm?

Now that Sanders is running for Democratic nomination, I'm going to vote for Sanders, instead of Clinton.
Crosses Sanders off list.
Thanks.
