Forrtunately all indications point to turkey doing this moronic and very dangerous act for her on her own.
You have a very deranged view of intra-NATO relations. USA cannot "give the order" to Turkish Air Force, not until they are formally under some NATO command, which then would not necessarily be run by an American officer, but i.e. a Greek one

If I were Putin, I'd spend the next couple of weeks bombing the crap out of the Turkmen back to the stone age...

Hmmm, arming the Kurds as well!

You know, just for ****s and giggles.

But it's a good job I'm not Putin - PHEW!

Give command is a figure of speach.

You don't think countries act all by themselves all the time?

Sure they sometimes do but many times, especially when their sovereignity has been compromised (see ukraine for example) they can for their (or most of the time their elites) benefit act on behalf of another actor.

                  • The only moronic act was a Russian pilot violating Turkish airspace. Twice. Good thing he won't make that mistake again

                    • Well...well...well...

Russia has been warned by Turkey several times about violation of its airspace. Not exactly sure what the Russians were expecting if they didn't listen. Perhaps this is a good lesson for them not to try a NATO country. Seems like it just didn't work out for them this time. Sad that a young Russian just following orders lost his life because Putin doesn't understand that his "larger than average dick" is actually pretty tiny compared with NATO's.

I think it is a very good lesson to Russia that International boarders have meaning and ignoring them has consequences. One I hope they will take to heart.

Turkey can steal land (Cyprus), can kill its own citizens (kurds), can violate airspace (Greece)

                        Why?
because it's a dear friend of the US.

It's both hilarious and sad to see the depravity of thought that's going on here
