Oh, ok, clueless. I guess everyone in the economy is clueless and Greece secretly is an economic tiger with companies just rushing in to hire Greek workers because they just make some much money for their employers.

Yes, there is a problem with over taxation and over regulation, which is why everyone cheats on their taxes and ignores the regulations except for companies which can't. You public sector is very large as a percentage of the total economy and needs to shrink while the government needs to sell those SOEs to pay down debt. That will decrease your expenditures and allow for tax rates to go down (assuming cheating Greeks actually start to pay their taxes instead of dodge them as they always do). Next you need tax reform so people can't dodge their taxes with real teeth to ruin tax cheats so the penalty for cheating is so harsh no one does it. Lastly, stop killing business with regulation. Greece is the worst in the EU on this front and has only gotten worse not better. Do that and maybe people might feel it is worth hiring Greek workers. Until then you will get more of the same and that is the hard economic truth.

There are plenty of circumstances where it would make sense to lend interest free, depending on the context.

And plenty where it makes sense to lend only if you get paid interest, even if there is no default risk.

Thus, removing those taxes and regulations would be the most straightforward way to remove the corruption they were used to facilitate. The real answer is to stop corruption and promote fairness in competition. Paiktis talks about how Syriza is doing things, but nothing has actually changed.
