The Altera Centauri collection has been brought up to date by Darsnan. It comprises every decent scenario he's been able to find anywhere on the web, going back over 20 years.

(though its less fluid than Christian theology in which one can discuss the context of the era in order to claim that the literal description was appropriate for that time but not today, where as that won't fly for Islamic theology).
I'm sure all the heretics burnt at the stake will be glad to hear it...
That's the thing, unless you somehow have an argument (not 'no true scotsman') to justify mediaeval and renaissance christianity, then you either have to concede that christianity is an inherently violent religion, or that there can be other justifications to the current violence of islam...
I'm not trying to argue that "Islam is inherently violent," or whatever. I have looked at the life of Muhammad, and seen that he unambiguously favored and did things which most modern Muslims abhor, e.g. mass executions, or enslavement of children. I am not so disrespectful towards Muslims, nor so credulous, as to assume that all billion-plus of them are stupid, naive or ignorant. Thousands of people, at a minimum, have pondered these contradictions and come to answers which they, at least, find compelling. I want to know what they concluded, how, and why. Or at least the CliffsNotes version.
Enroll in a local community college and take a course.
Personally, I'm a good resource. I've taught this at the undergrad level. If you want to act like an insufferable shit, feel free. But I try to be legitimately helpful when people have questions about things when I have a great deal of expertise. Instead of trying to come correct, you insult me.
But you're probably ignoring me now, so whatever. Be that way. Dickhead.
Oh, and the crack about not understanding my own religion was just stupid. Where the **** do you get off saying something like that to a person? Aren't you a convert?
More than anything, Orthodoxy is about the traditions. I've spent my whole life in the church... as an altar boy, Sunday school, and as an adult, I'm a somewhat active member of the community... even singing in the choir.
So **** you.
In a thread about a terror attack, you're going to try and have a theological discussion about Islam?
**** you.
You concerned about contradictions? Guess what. Religions are invented by people. They are imperfect.
I mention Christianity and its contradictions because you, allegedly, have experience with it. Me being the dumbass, I assumed you could take your existing knowledge and apply it to this context. But instead, you act like a holier than thou twatburger.
Oh no, I troll. This is a gaming website. God forbid I try to be funny and make people laugh.

Your behavior is anything but Christian.
One more for good measure:
**** you.
The only response Elok should have to this post:

There are 9 or 10 major "schools" of Islam, on top of that the schools of Islam tend to not have the organizational structure that Christian churches have. I believe that sets up the situation we have today, in which a relatively small band of Muslims behave in a way unacceptable to the majority of Muslims but that majority are unable to counteract them. There is no widely accepted / revered authority figure available to step forward and rally Muslims to oppose them. The Muslim reactionaries are acting in a vacuum. If Brazilian Roman Catholics began burning Pentecostals at the stake the Pope would denounce them, if some Orthodox started a new Pogrom the Metropole would condemn them, if a congregation of Southern Baptist re-instated slavery the SBC would disown them. There is no central figure in Islam or its divisions who could rally Muslims against ISIS.
"I say shoot'em all and let God sort it out in the end!
Yes, Doc, I know that. However, Muslims of almost all persuasions believe that slavery, for example, is wrong. Yet Muhammad himself took, traded in, and owned slaves, and the Quran (which, unlike the Bible, Christians, and Muslims, IS a monolithic entity) unambiguously allows for taking slaves in battle. I want to know how this contradiction is typically resolved, if only by the two or three largest schools.

I found this essay with a couple minutes of googling. It looks to answer your questions.
