Those just get turned into torture devices. "Who cares if the cops tazed him over a dozen times As somebody who has never been tazed, I can assure you that it doesn't really hurt"

    • Well, did he have the cigars from the store like the officer said? Come on. This is a no brainer. People want you to believe that the cop went out hunting black teenagers. Bull****. That's not a likely story. I have no idea what is wrong with people.

        • I still think manditory cameras on all cops and a requirement they all carry a taser is a good idea. Yes, tasers can be abused but proper training can greatly reduce the instances of over use or misuse while the camera keeps them honest and provides evidence.

                • Vox is a general interest news site for the 21st century. Its mission: to help everyone understand our complicated world, so that we can all help shape it. In text, video and audio, our reporters explain politics, policy, world affairs, technology, culture, science, the climate crisis, money, health and everything else that matters. Our goal is to ensure that everyone, regardless of income or status, can access accurate information that empowers them.

But on Monday night, St. Louis County prosecutor Robert McCulloch released the evidence given to the grand jury, including the interview police did with Wilson in the immediate aftermath of the shooting. And so we got to read, for the first time, Wilson's full, immediate account of his altercation with Brown.

                  And it is unbelievable.

I mean that in the literal sense of the term: "difficult or impossible to believe." But I want to be clear here. I'm not saying Wilson is lying. I'm not saying his testimony is false. I am saying that the events, as he describes them, are simply bizarre. His story is difficult to believe.
It's a decent read. I recommend it. Of course this is different than the reactions to the indictment ruling, but I think both should be evaluated in some regards.

Oh dear. Do you know that some people smoke pcp. Some other people are just plain nuts. Others really don't care.

This guy had just walked right into a store, grabbed some tobacco off the shelf and walked right out. The store owner tried to stop him, but was only half his size. Then this guy just walked right down the middle of the road, impeding traffic. Then when the police come, he doesn't run, he refuses to get out of the road. But you find it difficult to believe that he attacked a cop? Did you know that they have video footage of people attacking cops? It happens.

                    For you, a massive facepalm.

There doesn't seem to be any conceivable narrative that fits the facts that doesn't involve at least some surreal behavior on the part of either Brown or Wilson.

We do however, have evidence of prior surreal behavior on the part of Brown. Surely brazenly burglarizing a convenience store for the sake of a few cigarillos and then walzting back home down the middle of the street with the loot in hand qualifies Brown as someone capable of demonstrating inexplicable impulsive criminal behavior.

He also assaulted the store owner. Really.. Justice was already done to Brown. All he had to do was simply treat the officer with respect and walk on the sidewalk. Then he could have gone home and enjoyed his cigarellos. But... he was a thug, so he assaulted the cop and then escalated the situation. He was also on drugs at the time.

I don't see what else the cop was supposed to do? He wasn't dealing with a rational person here.

That's what mystifies me about the narrative I see most often: Michael Brown stole cigars, so obviously he then assaulted a police officer. No. Petty shoplifting is in no way connected to assault, let alone assault of a police officer - thousands of Americans shoplift every day without assaulting police officers. But assaulting a shop owner and then assaulting a police officer? Yes, those two acts are definitely connected - obviously the fact that the former occurred doesn't prove that the latter occurred, but at least it's a coherent narrative, so what's what's with the focus on stealing cigars?

You're asking me? I could care less about the cigars. What struck me is him assaulting the owner and then leaving. Then assaulting the cop and it escalated from there. It seems a pretty coherent narrative, so I don't really understand the fuss over Ferguson. Thug mugs owner. Thug lifts cigars. Thug blocks traffic and gets pulled over by cop. Thug assaults cop. Thug dies.

It's a sad story, but there were about 5 different actions at 5 different places that he could have made and he'd still be here. It's only when he punched all 5 that he punched his ticket to deadsville.

It's like playing space quest four and being told not to bang the cash machine. 4 times it warns you and the fifth time? You die.
