I remember a while back Pat Robertson was getting criticized for supporting and defending Charles Taylor (?) in west Africa (maybe Liberia) and it turned out Pat had investments in diamond mines in the region, or something like that.

There was the kill the gays Bill in a certain African country which was written by and lobbied for by a large American evangelical group. Making being gay a capital offense seems pretty extreme and hate filled to me. The law was passed but before it was put into effect the I international out cry forced them to repeal it.

Scott Esk, who was a candidate for Oklahoma House of Representatives, at least at one point, openly stated that it would be only right for gays to be executed by stoning them to death.
