I have to say I agree and his examples are spot on. I dislike most religions but find the inherent violence of Islam to an evil scourge; a scourge which most liberals generally want to over look or excuse. Check out the points Maher makes in this video:

Yet another strawman. Do Saudi's execute innocents by beheading? (They probably do, but it's state-sanctioned, just like in the US. Also, from what I understand the Saudi Govt is hardly representative of its populace).

I'm challenging the notion that extremist, militant Islamists represent anything like the majority of Muslims, which is the line Maher was pushing. Each of my points is addressing this, now observe yourself as you divert the discussion on to ever-more tangential arguments until you prove yourself right by asserting that white is white, and that anyone who disagrees with anything you've said is therefore wrong.
