  • This makes me sad.
Archer creator Adam Reed and executive producer Matt Thompson explain why they decided to erase ‘ISIS’ from the show, whose sixth season returns in January.

    • I don't find Archer funny at all. Everyone says it's awesome. I've tried watching it before. I just don't get it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it sucks or is stupid or anything... I'm legitimately baffled as to what makes the show funny.

      • It's probably funnier to someone of my generation who grew up with James Bond, Man from Uncle, Get Smart, I Spy, Our Man Flint and Secret Agent. My son can't relate to The Venture Brothers because he has no clue as to who Johnny Quest or Clutch Cargo were. He's working towards his bachelor's in Physics, then hoping to go on to earn a PhD. One day I quipped that he'll have to become a super-scientist, but the joke didn't register with him at all.

I was against the Iraqi war. You can go back and check my posts. I didn't believe that the US had any long-term strategic interests in the region.

I also believe that if you're going to break it you buy it and you take the time to do it right. You don't cut and run like Obama did. How long did the US stay in Germany?

                    • so anyway, it looks like kobane is going to fall and that there will be a massacre

turkey's role in this is something to consider. despite all their talk and emergency meetings, they're not going to be too unhappy with ISIS for putting pressure on the PKK backed rojava kurds and almost certainly see them as the lesser evil. western policy of arming 'moderate' rebels, will probably allow turkey and the gulf states the cover they need to arm and fund whoever they like (including ISIS) without attracting too much criticism.

the situation in the rojava is fascinating. it could be reasonably described as a revolution, the pursuit of autonomous government at a local level, the rise of popular democratic assemblies, the empowering of women in all areas of social and political life and the inclusive and anti-authoritarian ideology; in short the positive desire and crucially, actions to build a new society. it goes without saying that they have been isolated by all sides, especially turkey, which has the most to fear from this movement (which started in turkey) spreading, and largely ignored by the western media.

Those same Gulf states that are currently sending fighter jets at them? Or other ones?

                        • the PKK is a marxist - leninist organization (if you saw the banners they were flying even had che guevara icons on them) so naturally is leagues more progressive than the ISIS.

And has that been the case ever since they were still just fighting the US in Iraq under AQ banner?
