Wow! What an expose on health care in Texas. Not only is it racist and inhumane, it's entirely incompetent. Texas owes America an apology.
Health care workers treating Thomas Eric Duncan in a hospital isolation unit didn’t wear protective hazardous-material suits for two days until tests confirmed the Liberian man had Ebola — a delay that potentially exposed perhaps dozens of hospital workers to the virus, according to medical records.
“For their necks, nurses had to use medical tape, that is not impermeable and has permeable seams, to wrap around their necks in order to protect themselves, and had to put on the tape and take it off on their own,” the statement reads.
“Nurses had to interact with Mr. Duncan with whatever protective equipment was available, at a time when he had copious amounts of diarrhea and vomiting which produces a lot of contagious fluids.”
Duncan was left in a nonquarantined zone for several hours, and a nurse supervisor faced resistance from hospital authorities after demanding that Duncan be moved to an isolation unit, according to the union’s statement. Additionally, Duncan’s lab specimens were sent through the hospital’s tube system, potentially contaminating the system, the nurses said.Co-workers of a Dallas nurse who contracted Ebola from a sick patient say they worked for days without proper protective gear – and that the hospital’s Ebola protocols and procedures were unclear and inadequate, leaving workers and hospital systems prone to contamination, according to a statement by the largest U.S. nurses' union.
Nurses at a Texas hospital where a Liberian man died of Ebola described a confused and chaotic response to his arrival in the emergency room, alleging in a statement Tuesday that he languished for hours in a room with other patients and that hospital authorities resisted isolating him.Nurses at a Texas hospital where a Liberian man died of Ebola described a confused and chaotic response to his arrival in the emergency room, alleging in a statement Tuesday that he languished for hours in a room with other patients and that hospital authorities resisted isolating him.
"He was a man of color with no health insurance & no means to pay," so a Dallas hospital released him--with Ebola
Please secede already Texas!!!!“As a lifelong member of the Columbia Business School community, I adhere to the principles of truth, integrity, and respect. I will not lie, cheat, steal, or tolerate those who do.”

Also, I just saw on the news that the nurse on the plane apparently reported "a fever of 99.5" before getting on the plane.
Please note that, in no way whatsoever, by any definition, is 99.5 a fever.
It is a normal temperature.
98.6 is an average. Your body temperature varies around that on a daily basis, from around 97 flat to about 100.4."My nation is the world, and my religion is to do good." --Thomas Paine
