If we can float a carrier what's the issue with floating out a mobile diagnostics lab? They have finally started dropping some off in Africa to help with the crisis there.

How long do you think it takes to build one of those carriers?

In a word? Infrastructure. All the equipment is already here, as are all the researchers and their families. They work on this stuff, here, every day.

You do not send everything out to Diego Garcia because it makes things much more costly, and you will likely suffer in recruiting personnel.

You're already flying them back to Georgia, Diego Garcia becomes a much better option. The facilities are there, you're looking at two people.

As for personnel - if this is such a big deal they won't have trouble finding people. If it's not such a big deal, why are we breaking containment?

For a similar reason you don't send billions in costly equipment and highly trained personnel to one of the most unstable regions on the planet. They already have mobs attacking health workers, accusing them of spreading the disease.

Which is why we are now sending this stuff in. It's going to happen. If this was done to save money, this is a horrible way to do it.

It's common sense. You don't pull people who have gone to hot zones out of hot zones until they've finished with the incubation period.

Where am I arguing for doctors to avoid going? I am saying they know the risks. I'm arguing for them to stay in the hot zone and maintain a quarantine if they are infected. This is standard operating procedure.

I do not believe that the situation as it presents itself warrants breaking containment for two people.
