We should be taking leafs from their book, not the other way around.
And the Hama massacre made Hafez Assad a master counterinsurgent, apparently. Why didn't we just emulate him?

Our own counterinsurgency doctrine, developed by Generals Patraeus and Mattis, acknowledges the following admonitions:

Sometimes, the more you protect your force, the less secure you may be

Sometimes, the more force is used, the less effective it is

Sometimes doing nothing is the best reaction

Some of the best weapons for counterinsurgents do not shoot
Petraeus' counterinsurgency plan was to buy off the bad guys until we left, creating the illusion of success for just long enough to get himself promoted. That's the only thing he has ever been good at: getting himself promoted. I would say he's also good at self-promotion in the press, but he blew that by acting like a creepy lovelorn highschooler with his mistress.

Well to be fair, there haven't been any Native American uprisings of note for quite a while now. Maybe Israel should start passing out smallpox infested blankets ...

They do block shipments of medication to the Palestinian territory, so similar effect.
There's nothing wrong with the dream, my friend, the problem lies with the dreamer.

              ******

There's no feedback loop here, Alby. Hamas isn't retaliating for anything. They instigated the whole thing and Israel would like nothing better than to de-escalate.

If Israel didn't defend itself from attacks like the ones Hamas has been carrying out on a regular basis, to wit: kidnapping and killing teenagers, launching rockets, attempting (and sometimes succeeding with) bombings, then it would be defenseless by definition. The fact that this is not stunningly obvious to you only leaves me with one very uncharitable conclusion about your intelligence.
it's telling that you think that 'israel defending itself' is synonymous with 'stealing from, humiliating and killing palestinian civilians'; i'm sure the IDF would welcome you with open arms, you fascist little arsehole.

it's also remarkable that you, and the other half of your shabby double act, can't even ask why there is a conflict, preferring instead to present dishonest and laughable zionist tropes, of which we've already seen several in this thread.

No, I don't think it is, I'm just not inclined to split up your quotes and address each one of your retarded claims separately. And what's with calling them zionist? Anyway, the cause of the conflict is the Arabs refusing to coexist with the Jews, so as soon as they're actually willing to have peace (they're not right now) there will be peace.

                    Webster's Dictionary:

Zionism: an international movement originally for the establishment of a Jewish national or religious community in Palestine and later for the support of modern Israel

                    You're not a Zionist now?

Per Albie's video, it's probably the least genocidal quagmire in the past 3,000 years.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

There's an endorsement if I've ever seen one.

In a meeting with a delegation of rabbis, Russian President Vladimir Putin commented on Israel's operation in Gaza.
