of course i accept that this is unlikely to happen given the current context, and so i support measures, such as this one, which will improve the material conditions of the workers.

well that's true as far as it goes, but some people have far more influence than others. therefore the only way that the more numerous, but less (individually) powerful, can hope to influence events and thus shape the contexts in which we live, is through mass collective action."The Christian way has not been tried and found wanting, it has been found to be hard and left untried" - GK Chesterton.

The masses have all the tools necessary to impose their will on the x% (for x being a fairly small number). We have now social media and crowdfundig. The sky is the limit to what large groups of people can do if they are on the same page.Quendelie axan!

The big problem is corruption of the government process via unlimited funds from lobbyists. This is especially true in America.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

That's the thing, it is really not
it just isn't a great cause of inflation especially since most things are now made over seas in places like China where the average hourly wage is below $0.60 per hour
The fact that the vast, vast majority of workers already make more than the minimum wage just goes to show how little effect it would have on inflation.
Personally, I'd like to see a massively increased earned income tax credit (move it up to $10k to $15k per year and pay for it via restoring the upper income tax brackets Republicans have eliminated in the last 30 years
an eliminated minimum wage but that doesn't change the fact that you've been completely wrong on just about everything you've posted in this thread.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

Commentary:
The evidence is clear that a higher minimum wage would reduce poverty, increase consumer spending and have scant impact on employment, an economist writes.
Basically, it is a complicated effect and while at some point it would be a serious negative, it isn't at the places where governments are considering minimum wage.
