Call To Power 2 Cradle 3+ mod in progress: https://apolyton.net/forum/other-games/call-to-power-2/ctp2-creation/9437883-making-cradle-3-fully-compatible-with-the-apolyton-edition
Responding to a survey commissioned by the Association of American Universities, 27.2 percent of female college seniors reported that, since entering college, they had experienced some kind of unwanted sexual contact — anything from touching to rape — carried out by incapacitation, usually due to alcohol or drugs, or by force. Nearly half of those, 13.5 percent, had experienced penetration, attempted penetration or oral sex.
The wording of that paragraph tells me that they were stretching every possible definition to get to that 27.2 percent. I'd want to see of the 27.2 percent what percentage where 'touching'.
I'm not saying that "touching" is OK but how they classify things to make them sound terrible sometimes clouds the issue.
Especially the way they worded, Nearly "half of those" and even then diluted that number. I'd want to see the actual questions asked.
Yes, it's a problem but they shouldn't have to stretch the definitions to beef up their argument.

Groping a woman's body does count as sexual assault.
Again definition. You assumed groping. The article said touching. The definition is everything.
I did a survey for the government where they included "ever overhearing a sexual joke" in their definition of sexual harassment. Now granted technically it is, but when you use it to claim that 80% of all federal employees have been sexually harassed, I think you're grandstanding a bit.
Especially with this study since it involved
carried out by incapacitation, usually due to alcohol or drugs,
Perception in these circumstances might be considered a bit unreliable.
I'm not saying it's not happening. I'm saying that you have to look at the raw numbers to see exactly what's being considered in their definitions.
I stand by my original claim that they're probably stretching the definitions to make it sound more dramatic.
Your reaction is exactly how they get away with it. If anyone ever tries to look closely, you just say, "IT"S BAD".
As a researcher, I've used to seeing how definitions can be manipulated to prove almost anything.
The questions must always be asked.

Probably true, but these days unless a headline can really shock people, barely anyone even raises an eyebrow.
But does raising an eyebrow count as sexual assault in this survey?
The dogmas of the quiet past, are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty…we will be remembered in spite of ourselves… The fiery trial through which we pass, will light us down, in honor or dishonor, to the last generation… We shall nobly save, or meanly lose, the last best hope of earth.
- A. Lincoln
Probably true, but these days unless a headline can really shock people, barely anyone even raises an eyebrow.
More importantly, unless a headline can really shock people hardly anyone is willing to spend any money on resolving the issue.
In my case, the government organization that was paying for our survey was using it to justify their existence. Gee, I wonder why they wanted to stretch the definition.

The article said "unwanted sexual contact". Which ranges from unwanted touching in a sexual way to forced penetration. Do you think touching women in a sexual way when they don't want to be touched that way isn't sexual assault?
Should an accidental brush of the breast be considered a sexual assault?
1. it's unwanted
2. it's touching. (in a sexual way could easily be debatable when your dealing with booze and drugs.)
I don't see why you're so convinced that their survey defined everything exactly the way you would consider.
You don't know till you ask or look more deeply.
If you don't, and just accept their stats at face value, you're the lemming that they hope you'll be.
I'm not making any value judgement here, I'm just trying to understand the definitions and the raw data.
And you're quoting the article and not the survey.

Just realize that you're talking about women who said yes, but meant no and whatever else they are calling assault. What were the questions? Why didn't you report them? That would have been the intellectually honest thing to do.
I drank beer. I like beer. I still like beer. ... Do you like beer Senator?
- Justice Brett Kavanaugh
Actually I don't want to know why they didn't report them or any of that.
I want to know the wording of the questions/answers and how they coded them. And then how they defined the groups of answers for statistical purposes.
