  • Yes, it also includes physical coercion.

    • This is an old thread. Why are you wasting people's time? Either college women are being assaulted more or they just changed the way they did the study to get a different number. That's what they've been doing the whole time.

      • Honestly, when it comes to rape, Obama may be pretty close. When it comes to sexual assault...no penetration, the numbers are much higher! Martian men better get a damn interpreter, because you really don't have a clue about Venusian women!

        • I think you missed the point. The study that Obama was referring to never found that 1 in 5 women have been raped.

          • They did, but they included drunk women having sex as rape.

            • I didn't miss the point. Amazingly, some girlfriends I know, if they drink alcohol completely change personalities. True, one can't cry rape if it is not known, but if one knowingly intoxicates them, I will beg to differ!

              • A lot of men try to get women drunk. I never have, but I don't think it's rape. Unless it's rape of course.

In that case a simple question "have you ever been raped" should be appropriate, not what the CDC asked, which was something like, "have you ever had sex with someone when you couldn't give consent (were drunk)."

                • They asked it like that, because many women still believe they did something wrong. That is why it goes so unreported!
Edit add: Clarification. They are embarrassed!

                  • Well 1 in 5 women have not been raped. They inflated the number. They asked it like that to inflate the number. There are a whole lot of women who would answer that yes but have not been raped.

                    • There are a hell of a lot women who are raped and that is the only way they will admit to it. Like I said earlier, it assists in translations.

This subject is way too deep for me at this hour. I have given my female opinion and it will be what it is. Goodnight.

                      • We don't know how many women have been raped. We only know that 1 in 5 women answered questions a certain way, which indicates to the researchers that they were raped.

Many women are indeed raped. I'm not arguing that point. I'm calling liars liars. People don't lie for no reason. They have an agenda that they are pushing which many do not agree with.

                          • 1 in 10 doesn't sound as dramatic. So they cook the definition so they can say 1 in 5.
Which is a shame because to me, 1 in 10 is still bad enough to require action.

I guess I'm sensitive to that because I see it happen every day in our industry and it always irritates me.
Especially when it's a government survey.

If 1 in 10 doesn't get their agenda implemented they go to 1 in 3. They have no problem lying.

                              • With the government it's worse because they use the survey to demand funding to solve the problem. (by the organization that is tasked with doing that)
If the survey doesn't show a dramatic issue, they get no/reduced funding.
