So ben, you're just an ignorant fool if you think that it only happened that long ago, but we all know that and have come to expect it from you.

The consent on a first date kiss is an interesting point of discussion. Back when I started dating, you would never have considered asking, but now I can see some issues with it no matter how strange it would feel to me.

It is a good example of the power that men had over women. The younger generations shouldn't forget that it wasn't so long ago.

And this was only 30 to 40 years ago, for all you wise asses.
They still are mostly nurses etc.. A lot of women like that kind of work. What's wrong with that?

      • There's nothing wrong with that if that is THEIR CHOICE. Today's women have a lot of other choices in the workplace these days. Heck, the thought of a woman CEO in the 60's would have been laughable but common place now. While there isn't true equality yet, it's a heck of a lot better.

In the last 20 years, I've even had a women bosses.

It's good that they have choices, but they still mostly pursue the same careers. That's an indicator that it wasn't as bad ss you are making it out to be.

            • Not as bad? Are you kidding? Just because they were allowed to and some still chose to be nurses it's OK to overlook that they were shut out of almost every management position in just about every major company in the country. Your concept of not as bad is pretty hilarious. I now understand why you think a women that tries to stand up for equality is a monster. You have no clue where they're coming from.

              • And yes I realize that men have a higher percentage of getting screwed in custody cases. I've always wondered about that since most of the judges making those decisions are men. You would think they would lean towards siding with the men. But these judges obviously believe that the kids will be better off with the mother.

No. They don't care about the kids as much as the woman. They give custody to abusive mothers.

                    • You can't paint all judges the same. There are good judges and bad judges. I believe some do care. But again, most of these are MALE judges. That never made sense to me.

Raised in the same culture you've been discussing; mom stays home to raise the kids, dad goes to work.

You're making it out to be worse than it is. If most women want to be nurses than it's not that bad. Do you think most men have choices to do whatever they want. Women have more choices than men have now, and largely at the expense of men. If you get a woman pregnant she can have an abortion, or give it up for adoption. Or she can move to NY and take the baby. Then she can recieve more child support from you. The choice you have is either move to NY to be a part of your childs life that you support or stay where you are a pay support for a child you can't regularly see. Of course she can choose to not let you see the kid at all. The police and courts won't stop her unless you are willing to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on legal fees knowing you may still lose.

So yeah, they didn't have it as bad as you are making it out to be, and they certainly don't have it bad now.

I'm not going to look this up but something like 95% of male divorce lawyers and 85% of female divorce lawyers say all judges are at keast simetimes biased toward the mother.

I disagree. And firmly believe that if you were right, extreme feminists would be fewer and farther between. And I think part of your issue is that you truly don't believe they ever had it bad so you see no justification for seeking true equality. And yes, I believe it's better now but there is still room for improvement.

And yes I too would be biased towards women in custody cases, but wouldn't overlook an abusive situation. That's what gets me. I can only assume that they don't think the abusive claim is proven enough. If the abuse was proven to me there'd be no way I'd award custody, unless I thought the man was worse.

Why do you think "most women want to be nurses" when nurses account for a tiny percentage of women in the workforce?
