A big part of the push towards mandatory health insurance in this country was the problem of people without insurance receiving care from hospitals and being unable to pay for it. You see, contrary to the lies you've been told, nobody is denied emergency treatment in America. If you've got a serious problem, hospitals will try to keep you alive. Once the emergency is passed, some people wind up not being able to pay. Hospitals then have to pass the expense on to other patients. Fixing that problem was part of the justification for the ACA.

You're absolutely right. The ACA was passed so that routine expenses like contraceptives could be included in everybody's insurance coverage.

What baffles me, is that anti-choice people who also oppose the use of contraceptives ignore the fact that the use of contraceptives reduces the number of unwanted pregnancies, which in turn, is probably reducing the number of what would have been abortions.
