That happened over a decade ago. Are you going to be bringing this up thirty years from now?

He's from Iowa. Time passes differently there. Just ask Kevin Costner.

Will anyone even remember the Dixie Chicks 30 years from now? Their music wasn't even very good.
If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?

MrFun will remember them even though he probably doesn't listen to them.

I don't remember the government banning the Dixie Chicks.

This isn't an American thing. A lot of people here and probably most of the West assume freedom of speech applies to aforementioned situations, or internet forums for that matter. Some even invoke it to claim you can't debate their opinions, or the "It's my opinion and I'm entitled to it so shut up!"-argument. It's because freedom of speech has become a moral value as well as a political right.

My point is that conservatives do not really value freedom of speech. I didn't say anything about government involvement.

And by the way, there was no government involvement with the whole Duck Dynasty/Phil incident, but weren't you one of those who got teary eyed for Phil, and got all whiney about his plight?

There's a difference between 'I can say what I want because it's a free country!' and 'I can say what I want because this specific law says I can (although it doesn't)'.
