A degree in journalism is a great way to be unemployed these days.

I'm not going to find out what grade I got on the final. I am very confident that I passed and reasonably confident that I got a high B to low A on it.

It's not a degree in journalism. Only 20 of the 120 required credits are journalism classes.

Now I have to pass my Physics 3 final. Waves, Optics, Relativity, QM, Atomic Physics, and Nuclear Physics. I've been rigorously trained to answer a severely circumscribed selection of questions in each of those fields.

Done! And that makes me done with community college, too. Woo!

You don't need to have your absolute favorite first-pick job to have a fulfilling life, and failing to find a fulfilling job is much less fulfilling than just having a job and using the money to spend your leisure time doing things that are fulfilling.

                        /me shrugs.

I'd rather try to do something fulfilling, fail, and then figure out what to do next than not try at all. I've spent most of my life not trying, and it hasn't been fun.

The real problem is that most people have no idea what they would really find fulfilling.
“It is no use trying to 'see through' first principles. If you see through everything, then everything is transparent. But a wholly transparent world is an invisible world. To 'see through' all things is the same as not to see.”

Speaking of writing, Maryland offers a BS in Physical Sciences with a specialization in Science Journalism. I may have found my degree program.
Sounds like a plan. Good luck, Lori!

Worst case, you end up with a BS. What have you got to lose? Even if it doesn't work out, you still have the education and the experience. Keep us posted, Lori and good luck.
