    This was well said.

hardly. i gave a clear example in the same post. israel kills arab and iranian nuclear scientists. therefore, we can say that one of israel's geopolitical goals is to prevent arab nations or iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

it's telling that you can't defend your own arguments and instead are reduced to writing juvenile bull**** like this.

So, you know what those nuclear scientists are ****ing doing, right? What, are the Israelis supposed to wait until Jerusalem and Tel Aviv are smoking craters before killing them?

Oh right, but all that highly enriched weapons-grade uranium usable only in warship reactors and nuclear bombs is totally for peaceful purposes, like, uh...um, cooking?

Oh oh oh I got it, lemme guess: they wouldn't be trying to build a bomb if only we stopped levying sanctions against them!
so you admit that this statement you made

whereas Israel's assassinations are retribution for direct acts of violence against its civilian populace
          is false?

edit: and this is assuming that it was actually Israel in the first place, and not the MEK.
you need to do some research on israeli's assassinations of nuclear scientists over the years.

          • just to be clear. i can see why israel would want to stop arab nations and iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, even if i think their fears of nuclear attack, if they indeed really fear that, are unrealistic, due to MAD. i can also see why arab countries and iran, would want to acquire nuclear weapons (not to nuke israel, by the way, reg).

my point here is really just to demonstrate the falseness of claims that israel only kills in self-defence or retribution and also the falseness of the language used by its supporters to describe its acts of aggression and murder.

AND I WONDER WHY THAT WOULD BE! Let's file it under "geopolitical motives" because that sounds more sinister than PLZ DONT NOOK US KTHX

              • Ah yeah. Fears of arab nations nuking them are totally unrealistic. The arab nations are absolutely rational players here. They totally haven't fought multiple self-destructive wars of aggression that they knew they couldn't win over and over again for decades. Mhm.

EDIT: they also CERTAINLY don't have any ties or associations to terrorist cells and other rogue groups, whose methods include suicide attacks and other violence of no strategic value. Or parts of their government that are essentially beholden to such groups. Nope. Not a one.

                    • let's take a couple of examples of nuclear powers. india and pakistan have fought three very bloody and bitter wars and there continues to be conflict in kashmir between india and pakistani proxies. pakistan itself is quite unstable. the scene of coups, military rule, a long running insurgency in baluchistan and of course the smouldering conflict in the unstable tribal regions. yet no nukes have been used, or even fallen into the hands of those who might.

north korea. probably the only state on earth that can accurately be described as totalitarian, led by the third generation of a profoundly strange personality cult. they have a starving population and regularly threaten their southern neighbour. they have nukes, yet haven't used any.

now why might that be? might it perhaps be because MAD exists?

this same argument about gets trotted out every time by the likes of HC, and frankly, it doesn't improve with age.

                      • also, lest we forget, israel itself is well armed with nuclear weapons.
