Then again it needs to be, given how horrifically expensive everything is in your country Nikolai.

Totally, they go to Sweden to buy stuff because it's cheap!

Or Denmark/Germany. A couple of spaniards even rented a car to go buy a trunkload of alcohol and brought it back to sell (most of it) when I was in Linköping.

Doesn't Australia have a minimum wage of an equivalent of $16.00 an hour?

I don't think Australia has suffered any massive shipping of jobs overseas as a result (the sky did not fall down).

That's why if I want a cheaper hamburger, I go to Kentucky...

                Wouldn't Quebec be closer?

Oh wait, everything is still expensive there even though it's poor as ****.

It's also French. Why one would go there for a hamburger...

"THE unemployment rate for 15 to 19-year-olds looking for full-time work in July was 25.5 per cent. Within the 10 areas listed by the federal Department of Human Services as the top areas of disadvantage in Australia, the youth unemployment rate rises to more than 40 per cent. This compares with the adult unemployment rate of 5.7 per cent."

Youth unemployment rate of 25%. Yes, Australia's high minimum wage has done wonders. I am ecstatic at our jobless rate.

It's not rocket science. Minimum wage laws effectively force people not to hire unskilled youths or fire the ones they have on hand.

"You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. I am under the impression that the jobless rate for youth is much higher in the most disadvantaged areas of the US, even though the minimum rate is much less or non-existent at the state level. I'm too tired to look it up right now, though.

If by youth in this context, it's referring to high school students then it's not as bad as you're making it out to be.

High school students are still dependents and can still rely on care and support from parents or legal guardians.

So how do fast food restaurants and retail stores operate in Australia with zero employees?

How much does the cheapest burger at this Cluck Moo place cost, anyway? Something has to give here--quality, cost, maintenance, equipment, something--for them to stay afloat, and if it's cost, they won't stay afloat for long. Don't get me wrong, I'm not opposed to a living wage for unskilled work, but in the same sense that I'm not opposed to candy bars raining from the sky once a month.

Although there are probably a lot of scenarios where product doesnt suffer thanks to a small menu and small location and the owner not being some small business owner piece of **** who takes money out of the company for themselves ahead of other expenses.
