Damage roulette is severely gimping yourself because Firaxis always tips the odds against the player. I tried it and the highest my guys could hit for without criting was 2, including the sniper. I felt like they were using pea shooters.

Is that the alternative to Damned Good Ground? I always get the ones in the middle confused (those two, Disabling Shot, Battle Scanners).

DGG can be quite powerful, but only in some circumstances; on some maps, it is useless. Gunslinger is only moderately powerful, but at least always somewhat useful.

        Who doesn't take squadsight?

Also, how does gunslinger help with squadsight? Pistols don't benefit from it.

Well, since Snapshot(?) allows the sniper to fire the sniper rifle after moving, but Squadsight forces the sniper to use the pistol after moving.

Damn Good Ground + Archangel Armor is pretty nice. But Reg is right that ghost armor is better. I always pick Squad Sight though. It's way more useful than its alternative.

There is one scenario in which I don't use ghost armor. In late game council missions I use Titan for the poison immunity and light plasma rifles for the +aim because the extra damage is wasted on Thin Men. At that state in the game it doesn't really matter much what you equip people with since you're going to win anyway, but those missions are super handy for leveling up new soldiers.

DGG doesnt transfer its bonus to Archangel Armor but Archangel Armor confers elevation bonus for the player wearing it. Its a small distinction but it matters in comparison of skills. Gunslinger with Damage Roulette is so useful because increasing the floor on damage against sectoids and thin men early is very useful.

Same. nothing is worse than taking a panic inducing damage that could have been easily avoided

It makes it so that you're not bound to only using your sniper rifle as an effective weapon.

I really hate that in the final mission at least one character must have psi armor, so you can't have 100% ghost awesomeness.

I don't recall psi soldiers being required to use psi armor, just boosted by it. Am I misremembering?

Im playing with the 2nd wave option that makes the gift really rare. Havent unlock psionics yet but I wonder how not created equal factors into psi

The volunteer is required to wear psi armor. You have to equip psi armor to use the ethereal device (I think there's no other way to get >100 will which I believe is the threshold), and if you try to change it afterwards, it says other armor types aren't available to the volunteer.

Unrelated: Berserkers are the most pointless enemies. They ought to be cool, but they're stupidly easy to kill. In theory the whole charging people who shoot them business should make them super dangerous but it actually just means you can make them run back and forth a lot in the open and they die like a confused puppy in a ground beef factory.

Berserkers are stupid easy to kill if you have an IQ north of 70. They're retarded.
