The error was in the lack of objectives. If we'd just invaded and overrun North Vietnam we probably would have won, and we now know in hindsight that the Chinese and the Russians didn't actually give that much of a **** about it (and certainly wouldn't start a nuclear war over it). We knew that then too just not as definitively.

I mostly agree with all of that reg.
But who set those objectives? Last time I checked it was those of the Greatest Generation. So blaming the lose on boomers is just silly. It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

The problem is - the war was won after Tet. Had the American people understood that - South Vietnam would still be free today. It's one thing to lose a war because you didn't commit enough to it - it's another to hold back and still earn a winning position and then piss it all away on a blunder.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

If we had won Vietnam we would have had to go to war with the Khmer Rouge after. There would have been more chance for a major war breaking out during the Cold War. Vietnam being allied to the USSR helped to cause friction between China and the USSR. That worked to our advantage much more than if we were on the ground in Vietnam risking a major war to end the Khmer Rouge.
Better to have lost.
Much better to have never gone in.

Claim: Obamacare User Sent Other People's 'Eligibility Letters'
Justin Hadley was using the Obamacare website when he was accidentally sent "eligibility letters" addressed to other people -- in other states.
"Justin Hadley logged on to HealthCare.gov to evaluate his insurance options after his health plan was canceled. What he discovered was an apparent security flaw that disclosed eligibility letters addressed to individuals from another state," the Heritage Foundation reports.
“I was in complete shock,” said Hadley, who contacted Heritage after becoming alarmed at the breach of privacy.
Hadley, a North Carolina father, buys his insurance on the individual market. His insurance company, Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina, directed him to HealthCare.gov in a cancellation letter he received in September.
After multiple attempts to access the problem-plagued website, Hadley finally made it past the registration page Thursday. That’s when he was greeted with downloadable letters about eligibility — for two people in South Carolina. If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?

Funny he decided to contact the Heritage foundation instead of healthcare.gov about the security flaw......“It is no use trying to 'see through' first principles. If you see through everything, then everything is transparent. But a wholly transparent world is an invisible world. To 'see through' all things is the same as not to see.”
