Your options are a capitalist dictatorship, where some lefty professors get thrown in political prison, or a communist dictatorship, where millions of people starve to death. Pick one. The choice should be pretty easy. Then there's also the bonus that capitalist dictatorships have a historical tendency to give way to democracy. If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?

Yes and for slacker folk with no appreciable skills or prospects of contributing to society, moving to Cali makes good sense. Given the cost of rural plans (if more than one are available that is) compared to the cost of plans associated with more densely populated areas, health care (in reference to the OP topic) is a net win for him at the expense of someone else.Originally posted by Ben Kenobi View PostThis is the same Mr Fun who voluntarily moved to California.Last edited by Ogie Oglethorpe; November 4, 2013, 11:42."Just puttin on the foil" - Jeff Hanson

I've never heard of county restricted plans before. I'm not sure why San Diego wouldn't be offering an Anthem (which I assume is a BC/BS product) PPO plan.Originally posted by The Mad Monk View Posthttp://online.wsj.com/news/articles/...71710423780446
On the bolded: Holy crap. Is that nationwide, or just backwoods San Diego?“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

It's far more than just 'lefty professors get thrown in political prison' - that view just betrays a lack of any historical understanding.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. To be fair, HC doesn't have any understanding of anything... much less history.Originally posted by Imran Siddiqui View PostLike Pinochet's Chile? Mohammad Reza Pahlevi's Iran? Franco's Spain?

All of these were far better than the communist (or islamist, in the case of iran) alternative. My point stands.Originally posted by Imran Siddiqui View PostLike Pinochet's Chile? Mohammad Reza Pahlevi's Iran? Franco's Spain?

You really think they would have been better?
Bonus - get to hang out with Hemmingway.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

They were the words and the necessary implications of what you were responding to with "good". "Good" being an approval of the content of what you were responding to.Originally posted by Captain ******* Kirk View PostYou do understand that brackets are used to denote words that weren't actually used, right? Anyway, thank you for proving that I didn't make the strawman argument you're tearing down.
If you didn't think the US going to war with Khmer Rouge in a realistic timeline and occupying Vietnam for decades ... and all that that entails ... was "good", you shouldn't have suggested it was.
