I think it's commonly understood that you pay for social security and medicare while you're young and will take benefits from it while you're old... as far as Obamacare is concerned, it does a lot of other stuff besides taking money from young people and giving money to old people...

Medicare has always been a wealth transfer program. The biggest joke was pulled on the baby boomers. That 'greatest generation' pulled one over on us. The greatest generation suckered the boomers into paying for their old age medical care. On the whole they barely paid anything into it and reaped all the rewards. I've probably paid in over 50K and won't see a dime back for years. Yes, the numbers show that most of us will get back more than we paid in, and I hope I live long enough to be part of that group. But that's the politicians fault, not mine.

I don't think it's unreasonable to expect that I shouldn't benefit from it in the future. But I will say that the boomer politicians have been cowards in not preparing for the changing demographics when it was obvious which way the trend is going. But we shouldn't blame an entire generation for something every politician has known about and done nothing about for the last 30 years. We should be blaming the politicians for ignoring reality on this and other time bombs like pension reform. The fact that we have anybody in congress that has been re-elected for over 10 years while this mess has grown, is everyone's fault, not just the boomers. The younger generations need to vote out all these politicians.

The Greatest Generation at least earned their sense of entitlement by suffering through the Depression and sacrificing themselves in WWII. What the **** did the Baby Boomers ever do for this country to deserve their massive sense of entitlement?

No, we shouldn't blame boomers who are in power now for failing to address the situation that will lead to default and bankruptcy of the nation.

Boomers have an opportunity to make it right. Will they? We'll see. So far, the results are discouraging. The only thing they've cut is defense, and they are taking the savings there and expanding entitlements.

It would be one thing if boomers were making an effort, but instead - they are doubling down!

We can't. If ever younger person other than a boomer voted for someone - boomers would still prevail. We need boomers to buy in that 'entitlements are bad', but because they stand to benefit from kicking the can down the road - that's what happens.

So, it's up to you. Trash the system and stick it to the man while ensuring "you got yours first".

The difference is that we won our war in Iraq, and we'll win in Afghanistan too. Apparently our generation actually understands things like 'patriotism' and belief in something outside of ourselves.

That war was started by the so called "greatest generation" and you wouldn't find many boomers in the upper most level of command. So saying the boomers lost that war is like saying those rook cards lost the game and not the moron that was playing the game.


And anyone that thinks that those boomers that did serve didn't suffer just as bad as some of those from the greatest generation is an idiot. At least those in the greatest generation where honored for their efforts.
