You and the GOP lost and it's time you manned up and took it like a man instead of this eternal crying and lashing out at innocent Americans who just want to get on with their jobs and pay their bills in peace."The DPRK is still in a state of war with the U.S. It's called a black out." - Che explaining why orbital nightime pictures of NK show few lights. For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

Originally posted by WikiAs of 2013, Medicaid is a program intended for those with low income, but a low income is not the only requirement to enroll in the program. Eligiblity is categorical -- that is, to enroll you must be a member of a category defined by statute; some of these categories include low-income children below a certain age, pregnant women, parents of Medicaid-eligible children who meet certain income requirements, and low-income seniors. The details of how each category is defined varies from state to state.

Congressmen are voting as their constituents desire...many of these people were elected to do just what they are doing (on both sides for that matter). Democracy is the process of give and take. Obamacare was passed by a single party with little care given to what the other party thought. These are the consequences in a democracy. If the constituencies of those opposed to Obamacare begin to see that the shutdown is more damaging than Obamacare would be, then we will see votes begin to shift...once again democracy in action. This is the process working as designed and is not "dysfunctional" as the majority party are trying to portray it. In the end, pressure from the people will bring compromise of some type and some will lose and some will gain.
Democracy isn't always easy, but I still have faith that it will work out in the end.
Whining about people voting as those that they represent would have them do is nothing but posturing. This applies to both sides. I don't believe anyone wants their representatives to NOT represent their desires...so here we are. Let it play out and make your voices heard to your elected officials...I can guarantee they are listening right now.
On a side note...kentonio, the Supreme Court did not "authorize" Obamacare...they merely said that it was Constitutional. Perhaps that is just symantics, but if not, then it is a big distinction."I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you're not patriotic. We should stand up and say we are Americans and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration." - Hillary Clinton, 2003
