Wow, I guess Canadians will look for any excuse to cancel class.
Good can triumph over evil all the time," said Elliott who was recently in Washington D.C. to accept an international resiliency award for town residents. Gander, with a population barely hitting 10,000, welcomed 6,600 stranded passengers that fateful day.
"What binds us are the values of liberty and justice," said Dunderdale, who exalted town residents for doing what most people in her province consider "second nature."
The prime minister said Canada would stand with its allies to "help ensure such a tragedy never happens again."
Gander, N.L. was hailed for its generosity on 9/11 by U.S. ambassador David Jacobson as Prime Minister Stephen Harper attends the Ground Zero ceremony in New York City.

I don't get it. A couple of buildings were destroyed and several people got killed, but that has happened before - why are you yankys twisting your pants over this every year as if it was the end of the world ?
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

By a pure architectural view they probably did humanity a favor.

I remember feeling totally out of it, distant from all of it. Probably would have felt different if I'd had a relative in harm's way, as one girl in my dorm did. As it was, my strongest reaction was the thought that a whole lot more people were going to die for this.

It's a momentous event that sent the country on a divisive and devastating course. It destroyed reasonable discourse and promoted extremism. OBL didn't just topple two buildings killing hundreds, he severely crippled American society and comradeship. It damaged our nation's values in such a way that will be felt for generations. The real tragedy of 9/11 is that we so easily let this happen.

I feel bad for what happened, but we lost more of our personal freedoms that day than any other.

Be specific. Because it feels the same.
