Let's see, Houston is Harris County.

Obama 49.39 (he barely won). So that's 2x for purple.

Spartanburg + Greenville Counties supported Romney.

Shelby county - massively for Obama. Odd that. Same with Davidson. St. Louis (massively for Obama).

Tulsa county, also supported Romney. West Memphis, solid Obama. Atlanta, that's in DeKalb county.

So that leaves us out of the top 25:

Three supported Romney (Spartanburg, Greenville, and Tulsa). Two were evenly split (both in Harris County), and Twenty of them
were solid Obama counties.

Only Spartanburg, Greenville and Tulsa were significantly in favor of Romney. Both in Harris county were significantly more in favor of Obama than their state. Davidson, Shelby, Crittenden, DeKalb, and all of St. Louis are significantly more in support of Obama than their state.

At best, we can conclude that twenty three of twenty five trand Obama, against their state value. One is neutral. Tulsa is even. Spartanburg and Greenville are interesting outliers. I wonder what's going on there that they would have a neighbourhood so high on the crime list and yet end up in the Romney column since we have a statistically significant connection between the county the crime took place in and Obama support in that county.

That would only leave those three to more closer analysis to see how the individual poll boxes went.

I actually witnessed a young girl get shot in a random drive by there in 1980. Up until about 1974 or so this was not to bad an area. Funny thing is that this area boarders on Oak Hill, one of Nashville's nicer areas. Construction for I-440 made a real dividing line and totally separated the two areas. Interestingly, this had been a subject of a lawsuit in 1967 when they proposed I-440 and it took years to settle it.

That's significant. There's a stastically significant correlation between cities with high crime and the counties they are located in voting for Obama.

Actually the correlation between urban areas and this list is very weak.

However, we do see areas like Camden, Oakland, Atlanta, Baltimore, Philly, Miami, Washington DC, Memphis, Compton etc. What do all of these areas have in common that sets them apart from other areas of the United States AND would lead to a high correlation with Obama voters?

Erm, what? Over 20 of those are urban areas. All 25 if you use a liberal definition of urban, certainly in the 20s.
