One of the worst things about Roman Catholicism is the feeling of guilt it can inculcate in you- about anything and everything.  Well, we do try to get 'the man' to change his policies regarding taking care of the poor (among other things - the ECLA in Minnesota was instrumental in getting marriage equality passed in that state). I dunno if hippies ever petitioned governments .

 Heck, I wasn't passionate for marriage equality, as an embodiment of God's love and justice, until I became a Christian. Beforehand I think I was in favor of civil unions.
