Assuming you're right about the auto-update bit, what if the system depends on those parts not only being on but receiving input they can understand? I assume they wouldn't insist on them being on all the time if they weren't determined to be gathering useable data (for some arcane purpose) frequently.

Hard to say. The raised-entirely-by-the-television crowd won't, but they're not the majority (yet), thankfully. I think a good percentage of the middle-class set will be weirded out by it, and if they won't their parents will. Man, the parents. You just know there are going to be some really histrionic e-mail forwards and Facebook shares about this stuff.

Seriously, the fact that Halo is a selling point for the Xbox is just disturbing.

Halo, Halo 2, and Halo 3 were all good games. Halo: Reach was mechanically also a very good game but the actual execution of the content was not as good. Halo 4 was playable. The original Halo in particular was actually very innovative. The two weapons, recharging health, and melee/grenades on their own buttons created a very fluid and very fun basic tactical building block of shoot/throw/whack.

Halo was a game I decided on playing when drunk, because, what the **** does it matter if you miss out on immersion as there is none. It's frighteninly bland.
