Lock him up, charge him 150 dollars a day to have a randomly selected hooker from craigslist show outside his cell and walk around.

        Solomnic wisdom.
"You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours."--General Sir Charles James Napier

Not a Texas thing, just a general juries suck thing.

Both parties were plainly exercising very poor judgment the whole way. Prostituting yourself on Craigslist? Stealing your clients' money? vs. hiring a prostitute on Craigslist, and shooting said prostitute when she inevitably turns out to be a scammer.

The problem is, based on Texas "castle laws", theft amounts to a death penalty.

No doubt there, but the way that is phrased seems to indicate an equivalence of their actions which is just not there. One is (maybe) petty theft. The other is murder.

Well of course there's no equivalence, I'm just saying they're both idiots. One hired a prostitute and got his money stolen, the other was a prostitute and got attacked by a john.

                    How are Castle laws relevant?

There's a difference between a dude breaking into your house and soliciting a prostitute.

At one time you could be hanged for stealing a horse.

Yeah, at the time, stealing someone's horse was a death sentence for the victim if you were out in the country. No horse - no way to get back to safety.
