I was very lucky. The deaf ghetto is quite real, most of it is caused by these folks and their expectations as to how the world should work. They want to provide support so that folks like me never have to earn a living, just like we never have to go to school and learn useful things because that might be too hard for us.

      So yeah, **** them.
I'm still not sure how this is related to the thread - are you favoring the real lyrics of Pinball Wizard or opposing them?

I'm saying that many non-deaf people don't have a clue, and that many non-deaf people changing things because of what they perceive is offensive towards us have missed the boat entirely on Pinball Wizard.

It's one of the few - positive - depictions of deaf people being actually good at something. I'm saying that as a deaf man I *love* Pinball wizard. It's a great song and it's got a great message and it meant a lot to me as a kid.

The bull**** diversity morons censoring stuff *they* don't like when they aren't even deaf is just that, bull****. **** em. Tired of them telling me how to live my life and what I should be doing with it!

Ahh, ok. Agreed. (I wonder if it's "dumb" that's really objected to here, but I don't think it's any worse; "dumb" means "unable to speak" ("mute"), and the current slang usage derives from that. It's like objecting to a song that uses "gay" in the original meaning because of its new meaning.)

FWIW I also like "Drop it like it's Hot", and that's a pain in the ass to find uncensored both the video and the lyrics. The censoring totally ruins the flow. Censoring Snoop Dogg isn't going to do **** all about your gang problem. How about actually getting up and doing some policing? Imagine that.

Eh, that's the whole point of the damn song! People think you're worthless because you aren't the same. Just because you can't hear doesn't mean you can't think. The disability is an interface problem not an operating problem.

I'm saying I wonder if people censor it because they think "dumb" is offensive [because it now means something other than 'cannot speak', ie, 'stupid']. Still a silly reason to do it, of course. Most censorship is silly.

No article, I couldn't find one.
I'm shocked that this very important story wasn't covered by the press. Media bias...

It was on local radio, that's how I found out about it.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

Why do so many good threads end up being about Ben and his issues?
Any views I may express here are personal and certainly do not in any way reflect the views of my employer. Tis the rising of the moon..

Look, I just don't anymore, okay?

don't it, makes every day worthwhile

Unfortunately I showed it to Mrs Horse, out of some misguided sense of marital transparency, so she knows from the music when I play it
