Just out of curiosity, have we ever given Alby a piece of advice which he actually followed? I can't recall that happening.

I've been suggesting this for ages. Alby needs to walk before he can run.

let's not be animals, if things progress, which I doubt based on past form but anyway, Albie should confess his predicament at some point, she may be the same, who knows maybe this girl is the one for him, he should work on communication first, take things slow, it could be sweet

              1. We've all given Al tons of advice in the past; he never follows it. In general, he criticizes what we offer instead, even when the person advising him has much more romantic experience than he does (which, let's face it, is true of most of us). But he keeps asking for advice every time.
              2. He has a number of deeply unpleasant ideas about women in general--have you missed that somehow? You know, admiration for the scuzzwads who self-identify as "pickup artists," lots of women claim they were raped b/c they're ashamed of being sluts, etc.?

So...yeah. It's hard to feel hopeful or sympathetic at this point. But who knows?

The problem will be that we're 261 miles away and both really busy. She investigates police misconduct in the NYPD and will be a PhD candidate in a month or so.

I'm not sure what you mean, but at any rate, I was asking Al not to make the Marines look cheap.
Are you saying the Marines are in fact cheap and don't want to be thought of in any other way? Carry on, Al. Go the miserly route.

I really hope you will manage to get the girl this time Al. Heavens knows you've missed the goal post before. Go be the man of her dreams now.

To get used to interacting with women. Don't think of it as a big thing, or even necessarily romantic. Just a man and a woman going out for a night and having fun together. I remember when I was in high school, and I could see how it just wouldn't work out with every girl I thought would have me. I was measuring every girl as though she might have been The One. I didn't go to the prom because the unattainable girl I wanted was going with some other dude (the kicker is that she was all wrong for me--long story and I doubt you care). It only occurred to me recently that there was a cute but very shy girl who sat behind me in one of my classes. I probably could have gone with her and had a good time and nothing would have likely come of it. But it would have beat sulking at home, and been a good experience for me.
