That was a long time ago, man. I'm relaying impressions/memories and cannot provide details. When I say "different approach," I remember that the game often went in unexpected directions after some people's turnsets, including yours. I think we all rated each other as players and that's how I remember you. FWIW, I did not rank myself very high on the totem pole. Some of the Succession players were true technical masters of the game.
Communism was the tweener - never very good at either and thus less than optimal.
Edit, playing some games now. Fundy unavailable, Demo at 90/00/10, 60/00/40, 10/80/10, 80/00/20. Four very different governments.
Pump workers (tricky with only 10 lux), pump white goods, max infrastructure... Then hit pop cap with celebrations. Then max science to tech up. Then back to finish run with cash since no Fundy available. Don't want to be researching unless you're researching for the max, every turn you're researching.
War with Demo is hard, you want to be governed entirely by railroads and never have your troops leave the railroads. So engineers are much more important for democracies than all the rest. Fortress, seige. Fortress, seige, etc, till the game is over.
