      • This may be helpful for Ben and DD, from an Orthodox Priest (thanks to Elok who originally linked me to this Priest's blog):

How obvious is the Bible? In my part of the world, a simple, cultural Protestantism prevails, one where many people when asked what Church they go to will say, “I just read the Bible and try to do what God says.” They may or may not go to a Church. They may, if questioned have […]

The Scriptures are not a source of authority (as in the three-source theory espoused by some Anglicans). They are a manifestation of the Divine Life within the believing community. The New Testament writings are quite clear about this – they are written by the Church and for the Church.
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
        - John 13:34-35 (NRSV)

        • But it is important for Christians to understand themselves as Church. There is no Churchless Christianity, and no Church apart from the sacraments
You might want to read on a little - Imran. What he's arguing is that all of you protestants are not really Christians, precisely because you have separated yourself from the Body of Christ. You're welcome to carry on with this train Imran - but it doesn't take you where you want to go.

Are you really sure you want to use Elok as an argument against me?

          • I'm not telling people to have sex.
You're trying to tell other people that they can safely ignore God's commandments. "Don't bother with what God says, - it's not applicable to you or to today's society". Where does that start? Where does that end?

Any one on this site is always unfortunate to have you on their team.
Say, aren't you the one who said that people who aren't white are inferior?

              • God is not clear about anything. You've got to have the balls to say that.
God is clear about plenty of things. Follow the commandments. Yeah, I've got the balls to say that God is very clear on what is sin and what is not.

We all have to live our lives before God. Worry about yourself.

No, and no. Keep showing everyone what an ******* you are though. It's an awesome way to prove your point.

You don't even know what balls are. You think having balls is calling people sinners on the internet. Go into a bar and go straight up to the biggest meanest person in there and call him a sinner if you have balls. You don't. You don't have any balls, so STFU.

The fact that you don't know what that means is further argument against your case. There's no point in making any argument against you. You're like an atheist troll's character who makes christianity look bad.

                    • Do you have any homosexual friends? And if so, how do you interact with them?
Yes, I have several. I went to university with one. We had some long conversations about this - and he taught me how to play piano and I taught him how to do his Chemistry so that he could pass his courses. I reckon I got the better deal.

I'm not a Christian, however if I was, and I was devout (with exception to homosexuality), and ended up at the Pearly Gates, I'd give them an earful if they said I couldn't be accepted into Heaven because I loved all my friends, even if they loved each other a little more than scripture is interpreted as saying they should.
What if your faith told you that those who were engaging in sin were going to hell unless they repented? What does love actually mean? This is something I run into quite a bit. If you read Hebrews it says that love isn't accepting of sin. Love is condemnation of sin while one divides the person from the sin. This is the problem with the current gay marriage stuff - you are equating what a person DOES with who a person IS. Do I believe that my friend is my gay friend or is he simply my friend? He is my friend. If he stopped engaging in sodomy would he still be my friend? Yes, - because what he does is not the core of our friendship.

Ask me my opinion - you will get it. Do not ask me and I will leave it be.

Ahh yes. Which is why I'm a convert. Yes, it's surprising that I would conform to what I believe Christ teaches after converting...

I haven't always believed this - Mr. Fun. I used to believe that gay people should get married until I developed a better understanding of marriage and how the sacrament works.
