I've built a processor factory which can't build any processors because the goddamn trade depot refuses to import alloy. So it just sits there consuming my budget. But I've transitioned to medium tech industry and I have way more jobs than people. People are flocking in from your town and from Wiglaf's to work in mine, causing huge traffic jams on the main avenue twice a day.

Curiously, some industries are state-owned. Oil, mining, internatinal trade (wtf), gambling, electronics (mega wtf), and some other thing.

The fact that it is state-owned explains why it is unable to produce anything of value or even acquire the raw materials to do so.

Also, the rebuilt Vaj Town AMERICA has become quite the destination. Traffic is almost backed up to the bridge. It does move though, so it hasn't crippled the city... yet.

Ok, I get how EA might have server problems at launch. But how does something fundamental to their new game model like traffic between cities get missed in beta?

Also: are subways missing too?

There are no subways. Traffic between cities is handled server side. When servers get hit, so does the regional simulation.

So it's a result of the asynch modeling between cities then? As in, when you play for three hours and then somebody else jumps in they have to process a three hour backlog of traffic from your city? And clogged servers aren't updating as quickly so that makes it worse?

Yes and no - If I am playing and someone else in the region is not, their city (and highway traffic) is frozen. On my end, it continues to run while I play. Even if we are both playing the game at the same time, the game doesn't run in real time for both of us, so a car may go off to work on the highway in my city and not appear in any other player's city. (It could be 8 AM rush hour in my city and 2 AM in a regionmate's)

Clogged servers hurt transfer of services and commuters from cities, so that when 8 AM rolls around in my regionmates' city, he might not see the rush of traffic or the ambulances I lent him.
