Speaking of the dark side, I just hope Obama doesn't get shot in his second term

Considering the US used to be comparable, I'm not sure where you get that idea. Unless of course you think the US was on the wrong track until its recent hard right swing?

Yes, I'm sure you're still safely to the left of Burma and North Korea, well done.

More seriously, you're moving further and further to the right of pretty much the entire first world, which lets be honest about this is the only comparison that matters a damn.

Yes, we're all aware of your feelings toward HC.

I'm also expecting, but hoping there won't be, some sort of showdown with the loony right - the gun nuts, doomsday preppers, the survivalist militias, the ones who believe the Terminator movies were documentaries, somebody out of that crowd.

It could be another homegrown act of terror like the Oklahoma bombing or a siege like Waco. Those folks seem very worked up right now. There is also a big group of angry veterans who sorely need more help. But I hope things cool down and it's a peaceful presidency where no-one gets hurt, especially innocent bystanders.

The President seems to be acutely aware of the need for some healing and to tread carefully but then he also firmly believes he has to do something about gun control too, and seems determined to do so. That won't be easy.

I'm quite comfortable with the US being more right wing than statist societies in Europe.

yes but it's not, the country seems to be polarising with people moving left and right, not enough middle of the road, or it might all just be media hype, I don't know

I'm not sure. I think we'll still have a Republican majority House after the mid-term elections, so we can just expect more business-as-usual partisan obstructionism.

People will vote in Republicans for the House, then like idiots, scratch their heads and wonder why Congress isn't getting things done.
A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.

I had to google statist to see if it was a real word. Couple of genuine dictionary links, but the first page also returned the Ayn Rand Lexicon, Urban Dictionary, Conservapedia and the Cato Institute. Ever get the feeling you might be spending a bit too much time on right wing media sites?

Or alternatively people could vote for an incumbent President who vowed that others would have to see it his way, as opposed to a challenger who vowed to work with the opposition party to get things done, and then complain how things don't get done. Or alternatively cheer for ever increasing power of the executive when not 6 years earlier were decrying Bush a power mad monster.

Given that you seem to be a moron who is unaware of genuine terms in political science, no.

Not being a political scientist, I'll just have to live with my ignorance. It's a terrible use of the English language however.

Please tell us more about all the things that a bipartisan President Romney was willing to compromise on.
