Again, your statement was bizarre and nonsensical. Reposting it does not change that.

There are many terrible things about Obamacare. The ones already mentioned in this thread to just name a few.

However, while the legislation needs to be radically overhauled, I became a believer on at least one or two of its provisions. The pre-existing condition and guaranteed coverage provisions hit close to home not to long ago.

My wife's brother, who has lived in rural Alabama all of his life, never finished high school. He took a job in the construction industry at an early age and has made his living as a self employeed framer. He has never had insurance, and has very very rarely ever seen a Doctor. He is, in many ways, stereotypical for what many of my Yankee friends here think of a Southerner.

Last year, he developed a rare blood disease that caused horrific skin problems. While I am sure that it is related to screaming "Roll Tide" at every opportunity, the Doctor said that the causes are varied and practically impossible to nail down. As his liver is involved in this disease, I believe that the six pack or two he consumes daily may have something to do with it.

Nonetheless...He has had very little work since the housing industry collapsed (rural Alabama is building next to nothing right now), and he is living very much hand to mouth.

Naturally, being the conservative that I am, I directed him to his county health department (The existing "free" care that is already in our system). Well...live and learn. They told him that they could see him...in 3 weeks! Okay...so he can't wait that long so he gets an appointment with a regular Doctor. This Doctor won't see him until he pays $150 upfront. Naturally you can guess who had to send him the money. Doctor sees him and guess what. $420/mo in prescriptions + $150/mo in some type of blood letting procedure! At this point, paying for his damn insurance would be cheaper, but guess what? You got it! Now it is a pre-existing condition and "No insurance for you!".

Okay...so Obamacare has its uses. Still a bad law, but it does have some redeeming qualities.

/me sneaks away in corner to hide from other conservatives.

So the provisions of Obamacare that make it unworkable (and the individual mandate a necessity) are the ones you believe in?

How are we supposed to talk about something that doesn't exist, Sloww? You clearly have racism where your reading ability should be.

Plato - I have a pre-existing condition. The 'solution' of single payer, at least in Canada is to pretend I don't exist and that I can't get the proper care + coverage and equipment.

I sympathise - but here's the problem. What is going to happen is that health care will be rationed, and you aren't going to get the coverage that you need when you need it. You'll be the first ones cut off, and even worse - private coverage will be difficult/impossible to find and you'll be paying the full freight.

No badmouthing of Canada's healthcare system in this thread. It's much better than either Obamacare or America's pre-Obamacare healthcare system.

It's an arguable statement wrt the Pre-Obamacare situation. It's definately true now.

No, it isn't. Cost controls > no cost controls.

I've seen both. I've lived under Canada's system pre Obamacare, and lived under America's system pre and now, post Obamacare. Aside from maybe KH, who else here has had the same experience? KH also isn't from rural Canada - which is very different from urban Canada. Canada's system is much better on the surface than in reality. Canada's system is terrible - why take the worst parts of it to make American healthcare worse?

I'm just waiting for someone to comment on the monetary cost of trying to keep old people near death alive for another few weeks...
You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.
