For the last century the USA has been the exact opposite. Prior to the industrial revolution just about everyone in western Europe prized "fairness of skin" as evidence that the person in question never had to work in the fields and thus they were upper class people who never had to do manual labor. When the industrial revolution happened most people started working indoors in factories all day so everyone had very fair skin as most people worked all the light hours of the day indoors. Suddenly, the upper classes had to find a new way to show off their social position thus being tanned suddenly became en vogue as it showed the person in question had enough money and leisure time to go on expensive foreign vacations where they had nothing better to do than lay on beaches perfecting their tan.

So, as you can see, in the US the ideal of fairness got turned on its head.

Doesn't apply to Black people. Historically, it was the opposite of what you claim. Paper Bag theory and all that.

I have never encountered an Assyrian (or an Armenian, for that matter) on the internet who wasn't some sort of nationalist thinking their culture was the most important in the world and that their genetic stock consists of supermen with the ACTN3 gene.

Such dilution of the original Arab stock (in the Arabian Peninsula) as has taken place is the result of the importation into Arabia- particularly during the period of the Arab conquests- of wives and concubines from outside.

But in its most significant and common use to-day the word 'Arab' designates a culture group. It means all the peoples of the Arab world- namely all that part of the Middle East and North Africa (in addition of course to Arabia itself) which was permanently Arabized by the Muslim-Arab conquests of the 7th and 8th centuries A.D.

The process of Arabization was accomplished in three principal ways:

i)racial mixing by inter-marriage between the Arab conquerors and the peoples of the lands they settled in....

Racial mixing was, naturally, at its strongest in the countries on the fringe of the Arabian Peninsula (Palestine & Jordan) where the largest proportion of Arab emigrants made their home; but to a lesser degree it occurred in Iraq and Syria, in Egypt and the Sudan, and all along the North African littoral as far as Morocco.

It is impossible to-day to determine the proportion of Arab blood in the racial stock of each of these countries; in most cases it is impossible for any individual to say to what extent, if any, he is descended from Arab ancestry.

In the northern Sudan, for instance, the invading Arab tribes intermarried with the indigenous black population and produced a progeny which includes every shade of complexion from African ebony to the light brown tan of the Nedj ASrab; and every cast of features from the thick-lipped, snub-nosed negroid to the sharp, aquiline Semitic.... et cetera.
