What is the point of owning guns?

I'm going to a gun show tomorrow, if anyone wants to go. I'm not looking at "assault rifles". Looking at a Beretta Px4 Storm Type F Full Size 9 mm Pistol and seeing what the pricing is vs. the store.

9mm is a perfectly good caliber, the whole 9/40/45 thing is stupid. Shot placement is infinitely more important than bullet size and 9mm is way cheaper than .45, so you can practice with it more. Plus you get more bullets.

edit: clarification, by more bullets I mean the magazine capacity is greater.

9 mm is higher trajectory, but I'll admit it doesn't have the knock down power of a .45 or .40. Dead is dead.
