On the surface, guns are actually a step towards equality. Guns give the physically weak a way to defend against the strong, as neuroscientist and pop intellectual Sam Harris has described. A world without guns is not a more peaceful world, but a more savage one, where brute strength allows bullies to exploit people incapable of fighting back.

For the last century the USA has been the exact opposite. Prior to the industrial revolution just about everyone in western Europe prized "fairness of skin" as evidence that the person in question never had to work in the fields and thus they were upper class people who never had to do manual labor. When the industrial revolution happened most people started working indoors in factories all day so everyone had very fair skin as most people worked all the light hours of the day indoors. Suddenly, the upper classes had to find a new way to show off their social position thus being tanned suddenly became en vogue as it showed the person in question had enough money and leisure time to go on expensive foreign vacations where they had nothing better to do than lay on beaches perfecting their tan.
So, as you can see, in the US the ideal of fairness got turned on its head.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

Naw, haw din't I come to thunk bout dat ? Viet Nam and Thailand are after all high industrialized countries with barely a pesant or other kind of unskilled poor laborers araoundWith or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

I just shot four boxes (100 rounds) of birdshot at the range. Now I'm out. Time to go buy some more. Fortunately it's mostly rifle and pistol ammo that have hit panic prices. With luck I'll still be able to get a good deal on 20 ga #8 shells.
In better news, I've gotten a lot better at trap.

Yeah, but it got annoying having random people walk up to me and telling me my light skin was so nice. They did that to all the white people in my Army unit. We were like "thank you, but there isn't really much I can do about that. I am white after all." It would seem better to compliment someone on something they can control (like the quality of their work or because they did a good job on something) than to constantly bring up something they can't control even as a compliment. Yeah, I know I have blue eyes, thanks.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.
