How does a kid being able to walk into a store without their parents and buy adult material strengthen the hand of the parents? As I said, over here if parents want their kids to have that stuff, they can just go buy it for them. If anything, that makes the parents role stronger.

      • Why is it the government's role to keep the latest Resident Evil or Dead Space out of little Johnny's hands rather than his parents?

There used to be tons of porn cases in the federal courts. The answer is "it depends." Usually it's now handled by local zoning and business licensing restrictions, which are generally outside free speech challenges.

So you think it's vaguely realistic to expect parents to be able to keep tabs on their childrens activity 24 hours a day? Oh no, it's easier to cry like a little girl about evil 'government'. Do you even understand the basic concept of society? People working together towards common goals?

It takes a village to raise a child, expecting parents to raise healthy children in a moral vacuum is ridiculous.

We have freedom of speech too, we just don't use it like a petulant bunch of teenagers with tourettes.

No, just an obnoxious semi-psychotic with a gun fetish and a loose grasp on reality.

Amongst the most idiotic phrases ever coined. A phrase intended to indicate a need for a society devoted to a culture of caring (Counter to reality btw and not arbitrairily imposed by governmental edict) but more often than not used by people without a clue in the roles of parenting to justify lack of individual parenting responsibilities as evidenced by the entirety of the post.

The only reality it's counter to is the dark dystopian vision that you crazy folks live in, where everyone needs an armory of guns to survive to adulthood, gangs of ghetto kids are lining up to raid your house and evil Kenyan sleeper agents have taken over government. It's all a bit sad really.
