I make no bones about my moral support for [terrorist] organizations. - chegitz guevara
For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

I'm not really a fan of the "OK Corral" approach, but that is a bit of agenda based reportage. "The killer had already apparently stopped" is something figured out by investigators after the fact - not something apparent in real time. Relying on whether the killer has decided he's done yet is not an approach I'd prefer, thank you.
Also, the two guys who tried to intervene and didn't have much luck - the first one was a dumbass, you don't confront a shooter like that, you take his ****ing head off, end of story. The other guy got himself killed, but there's no detail on the tactical situation or whether he accomplished anything. Personally, if I'm dealing with someone with body armor and a Kalashnikov, I'm going to stay in cover unless and until I have a decent opportunity to make a head shot, unless it's a family member at risk from the shooter. Even with body armor, that's an advertisement for .45 ACP pr .357 Sig. Any decent hit on the body armor will knock the shooter on his ass, and give you the opportunity for a lethal follow up shot if you're in a position to take it.
There is one valid point that the OK Corral crowd misses - it's not just arming everyone, it's the people being armed needing to have the skill, tactical sense, training and nerves to perform effectively. When all else fails, blame brown people. | Hire a teen, while they still know it all. | Trump-Palin 2016. I like how Mother Jones can be relied on to mock the heroic efforts of people like Brendan McKown and Mark Wilson.

Also, I love how Mother Jones can say that no mass shooting has been stopped by armed civilians, and they support this by defining mass shootings as those with four or more dead victims.
Which means that if a shooter kills two or three innocent people, is able and apparently motivated to kill more, but is stopped by an armed citizen, Mother Jones ignores it.John Brown did nothing wrong.

To be fair, a giant egg would scare the hell out of me too...
As far as the Kinder Surprise, you're right, we don't allow people to sell candy with choking hazards inside. I don't agree with the law, but cowards always overreact to negligible threats.John Brown did nothing wrong.

Oh MJ says he doesn't count because he was a Reservist. And as we all know, Reservists are elite badasses who do nothing but train with firearms all day, every day.

Originally posted by MichaeltheGreat View PostUnfortunately, that's not what happened according to the article you cited. The guy didn't engage the shooter, the shooter wandered off and shot himself. Also, the guy in question was trained (albeit minimally) as an armed security guard. Not quite an effective indictment of Mother Jones' cherrypicking about the NRA's cherrypicking.John Brown did nothing wrong.
